The Importance of Staying Physically Active

Staying physically active is one of the most important commitments you can make to your overall health. This is a principle I’ve focused on for many years, and it has become even more vital to me over the past few years. When I took a four-year break from updating my websites, my primary focus shifted to my health—both physical and mental. The pandemic brought a lot of uncertainty, especially since several of my family members are immunocompromised. During this time, I dedicated myself to being there for my loved ones, offering support where it was most needed, and helping my community through the challenges we all faced. Unfortunately, this meant stepping away from my website, which had always been a platform for sharing fitness tips and healthy recipes.

Throughout my life, I’ve always been someone who values physical activity. As a child, I loved being active, and that love has stayed with me into adulthood. Over the years, I’ve made it a priority to keep moving and maintain a strong, healthy body. In recent years, I set an ambitious personal goal for myself—20,000 steps a day. While 10,000 steps is a widely accepted target for daily activity and plenty for most people, I set a higher goal for myself due to some inherited health conditions. These conditions could potentially affect my quality of life, so I’ve made it my mission to stay ahead of them by remaining as active as possible.

I share this personal journey with you in the hope that it inspires you to take your own steps toward physical activity—no matter where you’re starting from. While I push myself to achieve 20,000 steps a day, I always encourage others to start at a level that feels right for them. If you’re new to exercise, or if you’re unsure of what level of activity is safe for you, please consult with your doctor or a licensed healthcare provider before starting any new fitness regimen. Even 5,000 steps a day is a great milestone to work toward, and reaching 10,000 steps is an excellent goal for many people.

In addition to staying active, my nutrition plays a key role in my ability to maintain high energy levels. The healthy, organic foods I’ve been eating over the years have provided the fuel I need to keep my body moving and reach my daily goals. I’ve found that nourishing my body with wholesome, nutrient-dense foods not only supports my physical activity but also helps me stay focused and energized for everything else in my life.

Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or looking to improve your current routine, I hope you find the inspiration and motivation to keep moving. Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about consistency, setting achievable goals, and taking care of your body in ways that make you feel strong, capable, and healthy.
